Mike Thiessen, owner, participates in events throughout the year to support APOYO (Assistance to Parents of Youth), an organization that serves the Hispanic community in Kansas City, KS. APOYO offers 26-week sessions (in English and Spanish) to young immigrant mothers that cover topics like nutrition, discipline, childhood diseases, behavior, school involvement, community awareness and child development. Mike has helped with Easter and Halloween activities for the kids. |

Tim Lockyear, a BSG consultant, is actively involved in Team in Training (TNT). In 2007, he completed his first triathlon, an Olympic distance race, and raised more than $12,000 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS provides patients affected by blood cancers and their families with support as well as fund research for cures to these terrible diseases. Tim is currently scheduled to compete in two triathlons for TNT next year and mentor first time participants. |

Mike and Tim are beginning their second year as mentors with Youth Friends. YouthFriends volunteers prove that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. By spending just one hour a week with students in schools, YouthFriends mentors are making a world of difference in the lives of young people throughout Kansas and Missouri. |
